How does a book get from being a manuscript to being on the shelf at Barnes & Noble or your local library? A New York City editor will take you through the publication process, including finding an agent, the submission process, production, sales, and life after publication. Ms. Argyres is an editor at St. Martin's Press, where she acquires fiction and nonfiction. Some of the titles she's edited are the New York Times best-seller "Because They Hate" by Brigitte Gabriel and her follow-up book "They Must Be Stopped; Mountain Rescue Doctor"by Chris Van Tilburg, and "The Girl in the Green Sweater: A Life in Holocaust's Shadow" by Krystyna Chiger & Daniel Paisner.

A Dramatic Reading

Maple Grove becomes an East Egg mansion as Molly Katz and cast members of Half Moon Theatre take the roles of key characters in this dramatic reading of selections of "The Great Gatsby." Free admission. Donations accepted.
To get to Maple Grove you must enter into the St. Simeon Property at 24 Beechwood Avenue in Poughkeepsie. Then follow the signs for Maple Grove. For more detailed directions, visit the Maple Grove website.
Prime Time Read Comes to Poughkeepsie
The Library District will launch an exciting new program in partnership with the Morse Young Child Magnet School in Poughkeepsie called Prime Time Family Reading. Prime Time is a reading, storytelling and discussion series based on children’s picture books that will be implemented at the school in the fall for families with students enrolled in grades 1-3. The Library District plans to conduct Prime Time programs at other elementary schools in the future. This program is sponsored by H. W. Wilson Foundation, Friends of PPLD, the Gannett Foundation, DuBois Farms, and the Palace Diner.
