Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Checkout Questions

1. If you owe more than $3.00 in fines, then you may not check-out any additional materials. If you owe $10.00 or more in fines or charges, your library card will expire and your Internet access privileges will be suspended.

2. If your items are more than two weeks overdue, you may not check-out additional items.

3. 7-day items may not be renewed (others want them as badly as you!). However, most three-week items can be renewed twice if there are no other requests for the item(s).

4. We cannot issue library cards if the patron is not present (including cards for children).

5. You need to have your library card with you if you expect to conduct business in the library. We no longer accept alternate forms of identification for any transactions that typically require your library card.

6. If you need to conduct any type of library business with us on the phone, you need to have your library card with you.

7. If you have several cards in your family, each of you should use your own card for library business.

If that card has a delinquency, you will not be allowed to produce other cards.

8. We can process holds and interlibrary loans only with the card used to request the item(s).

9. Consideration is requested in picking-up holds in a timely manner. We have limited space to store items.

10. We reserve the right to limit high-demand items.

11. To renew your expired cards or to reset your PIN (for either Millenium or SAM), you must have both your library card and a government-issued photo ID. However, to renew your library card, you cannot owe the Library District for any fines or charges.
