Volunteers Needed: Book knowledgeable volunteers and people who like to pack books are needed by the Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District to help sort and pack thousands of donated books, CDs, cassettes, videos, DVDs and other donated items for two large annual book sales. The Friends are dependent on the skills and dedication of volunteers to make these sales successful.
Annual Big Book Sale: The annual Gian Book Sale runs Friday, June 14, through Tuesday, June 18, featuring over 200,000 books and media. Same location as last year: Poughkeepsie Business Park on Route 44, approximately 1 mile East of Adams Fairacre Farms. Same affordable prices of 50 cents up to $2.00.
Donations: Book donations may be made at Adriance Memorial Library. Donations can be brought to the Noxon Street parking lot on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A custodian will be available to assist donors as the books will be put directly into the Library District's van for transport to the Friends' sorting facility on High Street. As of November 1, 2010, book donations can no longer be received at the Arlington Branch Library. If Saturdays don't work for you, please call 485-3445 x 3306 to make other arrangements.
If you have any questions about donations to the Friends, please call the Library District's Administrative Office at 485-3445 x 3306.
